Signs its Time to Sell Your Motorcycle and The Best Time to Sell

Selling your motorcycle is a difficult decision. There are so many memories and experiences tied to it, not to mention the emotional attachment you may have with your bike. However, there comes a point where we must sell our motorcycle and either buy a new one, or get a new vehicle. How should you know when it’s time to sell your motorcycle?

Your Motorcycle is Old & Requires Frequent Repairs- It Could Be Time to Sell

After owning a motorcycle for quite some time, you may notice your motorcycle having more and more problems. Around the 10 year mark of owning a motorcycle is usually when maintenance gets difficult and problematic. If your bike has been with you for that long, it may be time to think about selling. Regardless of all the great memories and experiences your bike gave you, sometimes we need to let go!

If you are making frequent trips to the mechanic, or have outdated features on your bike, it may mean that your bike is ready to retire. Further, it will allow you to buy a new motorcycle to make new memories with!

You Want to Ride a Different Type of Motorcycle

Maybe the bike you currently have is one you bought when your interests were different. If it was your first bike, you might have bought a standard motorcycle. After a few years, you realize you want a touring bike for long distance motorcycle rides.

Switching motorcycle types is fairly common. With time, our motorcycle needs and interest change. Enjoy different types of motorcycles!

You Are No Longer Comfortable With Your Motorcycle Speed

This is another thing that can happen if your current motorcycle was your first, and you’ve had it for years. After many years with your first bike, you may realize that it is no longer fast enough. This is your sign that it is time for a change.

On the other hand, you can have the opposite experience. You may have a very fast bike and you have enjoyed its speed, but want to go down a little for safety reasons, or just general preference. It is all up to you! If you are no longer happy with your motorcycle speed, it may be time for a new one.

Consider Selling Your Motorcycle if You Don’t Ride Often

If your motorcycle spends more time collecting dust and taking up space in the garage, it might be time to sell. If  you don’t ride your motorcycle often, it may be a good idea to think about selling it. Unless you have specific plans in mind for your bike, or are just taking a temporary break from riding, selling might be a good choice to consider.

Selling your bike might also allow you to eliminate some of the common costs of owning a motorcycle. This includes motorcycle insurance, repairs, etc. If your motorcycle is not seeing too much of the road, consider selling it.

When is the Best Time to Sell My Motorcycle?

There is no wrong or right time to sell your motorcycle. You can do so when you are ready to part ways, replace it, or switch vehicles. However, there does seem to be a common trend with buying motorcycles in the spring or summer. These seasons are usually when great weather comes around, inspiring people to try out motorcycle riding. Selling your bike during these warmer months would be your best bet in selling quickly, and for a good amount.
